Focus: Structure, discipline, preparation, systems

We live in a day and age where people are often more obsessed with the vision
than the execution. Every calendar year, people get stuck in the same cycles—
rewriting the same goals, chasing the dopamine kick that comes from the ball
drop when the clock strikes 12. Motivation and those temporary highs feel good,
and they can get the ball rolling. But as Kingdom believers, we are called to
have discipline, not motivation. At some point, discipline/self-control must
prevail—it is fruit of the Spirit.

As we work to bring the vision God has given us to life, there are three key things
to keep in mind: Your Why, Your How, and Your Who. Why are you pursuing
this vision? Your purpose fuels perseverance. How will you get there? The vision
is only as good as the plan to reach it—without a plan, there is no purpose. And
finally, your Who. God doesn’t bless us just for ourselves. He blesses us to be a
blessing. God will not want an account of how we self-served, but rather who we
served. Who are you going to impact? And who will you lean on along the way?
Your own strength can only take you so far. I don’t know what your Bible says,
but mine says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
